Meaning

◉ as soon as～

◉ Used as a written language, but not in conversation.

◉ An expression that describes what happened in the past.

◉ A “will verb” is added after 「〜が早いか」, And it becomes unnatural if you use a natural phenomenon or the occurrence of a state.

Ex：

（X）北海道（ほっかいどう）に着（つ）くが早（はや）いか、雪（ゆき）が降（ふ）り出（だ）した。

→（X）As soon as I arrived in Hokkaido, it started to snow

As soon as the time turns five o’clock, she went home immediately.

⑥ 焼（や）き立（た）てのパンが棚（たな）に並（なら）ぶが早（はや）いか、僕（ぼく）が買（か）い占（し）めました。

yakitate no pan ga tana ni narabu gahayaika, boku ga kaishimemashita

I bought the all freshly baked bread as soon as it was put on the shelf.
